Some discussion on "clip-pointed" blades...

So, my post on pocket-folder blade designs made me start thinking about some of the preferences for "clip-pointed" blade designs. So, after doing a little research, I'm not so much confused as I'm finding just a wider-spectrum definition of "clip-pointed" blades.

My assumption is that the more "straight-clip" blades in a slight drop are more suited to general tasks, whereas the more curved/upswept Bowie-clipped blades are likely better suited as skinners and of course the historical reputation as a fighting knife. Am I off base or missing something; or is the curved "Bowie" clipped blades just in another category? I just did a search for "clip-pointed" knives, and it gave a very broad spectrum of that definition...
