And hauled their mash for almost two years
Animals love it to eat
All the baked goods I've tried made from spent mash were .... not tasty that could probably be fixed with refining the process and raw materials.
And I know that commercial cereal is made from spent mash
The spent mash I got would not compost readily
1) it's sterile
2) It still contains some alcohol so any introduced bacteria is at a disadvantage
3) if it is left in a pile it becomes silage and anaerobic processes take over that is an odor to be avoided
Tilling into the soil is an option
As it comes from the tunn it is a gooey sticky mess, a great deal of cellulose not a lot of carbs
It is a hell of a fire suppressant I shoveled an IBC of wet mash about 2500- 3000 lbs on to a burning brush pile about 200 sf
It put it out, this pile was a mix of light brush, slash and punky oaks up to 2 feet in diameter.
If someone had the facilities to dry it treat it with fire retardant (borax) it would make a great "all natural upcycled insulation "
To all home brewers, bakers, growers...
