I saw this guy on sale for $99.99 and thought I might give it a try. I opted for the Nitride version.
I was primarily looking for a lighter BCG for my AR Pistol for use with a binary trigger group. (Franklin)
The BFSIII trigger group runs great in my full sized AR but was a bit inconsistent in my AR Pistol so I was hoping that it would improve reliability of binary fire in my pistol.
The addition of the new bolt did improve it but I found that I needed to also use the same buffer and buffer spring that I was already using with my pistol, which is a lighter buffer and lighter spring.
It works flawlessly now with both my rifle and my pistol. It also seems to run faster than the original bolts.
The Tale of the Scale
As you can see, there is a 3.4 ounce reduction from the standard BCG.
I have a couple of hundred rounds through the new BCG and haven't had a single hiccup yet, once I switched the spring and buffer. Even before that the only issue was that the bolt would not lock back on the final round. It also runs the lighter powered steel without a hitch. (Semi-auto only, I don't run steel for binary mode.)
Next time I see another similar deal I will probably order another one.
