Which cat for the homestead?

I don't even know the different breeds of cats. Mine catches mice occasionally. Between her and the Jack Russel dogs, no mouse lives long in my house.

But the best mouser I've ever seen is my inlaw's cat, which they found as a feral kitten. The cat is kinda mean at times, and is on diet feed but is still very fat due to all the mice it eats.

So I would say the best cat is one that was formerly feral, used to finding it's own food, but has been somewhat tamed.
