5.45x39?

ive built a couple AK-74s, but anticipating a 7N6 restriction i build them as 5.56 rifles instead (this just requires a different barrel and new mags).. however, for a few reasons ive moved away from 5.56 and back towards the eastern block cartridges in 7.62x39 for its lower costs and larger wound channel as well as improved SBR capabilities

however, ive been giving 5.45 a thought as well, maybe build up one of my remaining '74 kits in its intended caliber to at the very least give a chance to compete with my 7.62 AKs.. but i must admit the 7N6 ban has been making it difficult to convince myself it would be worth the effort

so.. with the factory ammo available from people like wolf, tulammo, golden tiger, bear, etc.. is 5.45 still a good choice for the long term? does it still provide the significant wound cavity from a nearly instantaneous yaw from the 7N6 cartridge? and can the factory stuff still be had cheap enough to stockpile should i decide to do so?

Let's block ads! (Why?)
