Polymer Armor

Hi All

I recently came across a web site claiming the next new generation in body armor is "polymer". I was curious so I did a few Google searches and didn't find a whole lot of info as to the make up and production method of this new armor. I found a couple of web sites that are selling level IV polymer armor but they were also were vague in describing what it is made of. The best answer I found is that it is compressed Kevlar that is like a hard board rather than a soft cloth like fabric.

Has anybody else heard about this and knows how it compares to ceramic and its pros and cons? Enquiring minds wants to know.
