Ask the doc – how often have you prescribed xxx for condition yyy?

For the most part I’m boringly healthy , fat but healthy. Anyway the few times the doc has prescribed meds for me I always ask “how often have you prescribed xxx for this condition and what were the results”

Often as not I get – I prescribe it all the time and don’t often hear back that it worked but seldom hear it did anything. Well except the one time I had Cat Scratch Fever , simmer down Nugent fans. Doc says, “I’ve never prescribed Cipro before but I’ve never had a patient with CSF either. None of the other docs in my group have ever seen it either but the text book treatment is Cipro.” I didn’t die but it was a truly unpleasant med to be on.

Seems a reasonable question to ask.
