Is it illegal to encourage suicide ?

There's a trial taking place in the Boston area. A young man asphyxiated himself in a vehicle.

There's a trail of text messages from a young lady that absolutely, without a doubt, encouraged the young man to kill himself.

At one point the young man exited the suicide vehicle. Only to reenter at the girlfriend's encouragement.

She's on trial now. Charged with some form of manslaughter/murder.

The defense argument being that she wasn't there. How could she be held responsible?

Counter argument being that her "virtual Presence" loomed over the young man.

Her guilt/innocence will be decided by a judge as she gave up her right to a jury trial.

Is it illegal to encourage a suicidal person to commit suicide?
