ok to keep pellet gun charged?

Is there a problem with keeping a spring piston pellet gun charged over a period of days or weeks? I'm wondering if it might be hard on the seals or something. Anyone have any experience with this?

Mine is a Gamo, supposedly rated at 1200 fps. It does a good job on rabbits. But if I don't have to take the time to load it when I see one it'd do an even better job. I just don't want to damage it.

Thanks for sharing any experience or knowledge you might have.
