Toggle and loop tarp rigging

I'm not sure if others do this, but I've found it a quick and simple way to set up a hoochie (tarp) when hiking.

I replaced all my guy lines on my hoochie with thin shock cord and use toggles to secure it.

The hoochie.

Everything rolled up inside it.

1st end of ridgeline has a permanent loop. Wrapped around tree and secured with a toggle, which just a twig.

The ridgeline is threaded thru the middle ridge loops and wrapped around a tree twice. The friction keeps the line tight and a simple round-turn secures it.

Permanently attached to the ridgeline are 2 prussic loops.

A toggle is used to secure the shockcord loop run thru the end tarp loop.

The shockcord guy lines are stretched out and pegged in.

If the lines need to be shortened then a toggle does the trick.

Anyone else use toggles?

Let's block ads! (Why?)
