No insulation, and wind can get through cracks in the tent.
So I was thinking, what if you dug a hole in the ground and lived in that?
Advantages: It would be better insulated than the thin walls of a tent.
Issues: Would need some sort of roof that didn't let draughts down into the hole. Also would help if the roof was insulated.
Idea: Corrugated iron or wooden plank roof covered in soil?
Alternative: 2 tarps with roofing insulation batts sandwiched between them?
A fire would be good; how would you stop the hole filling with smoke?
A pot bellied stove down in the hole, with a pipe chimney?
I think that sounds like a good idea.
What do you think?
Living in a hole in the ground.
