Making decent caches

What is the current thought on materials to make buried caches, for weapons, food, and precious metals?

Figure they would be buried such that the top of the container is a foot or so below the ground.

Would you use something like a steel 55 gallon drum with the lid welded on (so it is waterproof) or perhaps the same except in plastic with the lid epoxied on?

I would like to put items in there which do not need rotating out, at least for 5 years or so. #10 cans, ammo, silver, honey, canned meats/fruits, possibly rice and flour?

Essentially I want to bury them and just forget about them and hopefully never need them.

Let's block ads! (Why?)
