Question for Paramedics/EMTs Out There

Situation: public high school, after regular hours (no students around) 911 call goes out for teacher with "severe stomach pains".

Another staff member hears the problem is "chest pains" and is asked to wait by the door for ambulance crew. Ambulance crew of 2 arrive, and saunter in at a very slow pace.

Staff member says "hurry, he's in here", and the ambulance guy says "yeah we're coming" but still moving just as slow.

Staffer says "he has chest pains, he may be having a heart attack".

Ambulance guy says "that's not what we were told" but still moves at a leisurely pace to the stricken teacher, who was eventually taken out by ambulance.

Had that been my loved one hurting I woulda probably said "c'mon, get your ass moving, my family member is in trouble!"

I have noticed in footage before of ambulance crews responding to various emergencies like car accidents and such and they sometimes seem to be moving like they are out for a stroll around the neighborhood instead of at least walking quickly or jogging to the injured. Can anyone explain this?

Let's block ads! (Why?)
