In Your Opinion, What's the Best Kit Gun?

I purchased a 3" Ruger SP101 chambered in 32 HR about 20 yrs ago, for hunting small game, and surviving harsh conditions. I called it a trapline gun at the time, but most shooters refer to this application as a "Kit Gun".

My Ruger is minute of rabbit out to 50 yds, which is good for a small revolver. I typically handload 100g SWC bullets to 1100 f/s, so it's more flexible than a 22 LR. But it weighs 24 oz, which is not really light for a kit gun, and 32 HR ammo is not common at stores.

I'm trying to decide if I should replace my kit gun. I would prefer something in a common caliber, that is much, much lighter, but I'm not willing to sacrifice accuracy and effectiveness.

Any suggestions?
