The M1A is a high quality rifle that is capable of 1,000 yard shots in the hands of a skilled shooter. In Viet Nam, when we were using its clone the XM-21/M-21 rifles for sniping, we would use the 7.62 NATO National Match ammo. With those rounds zeroed to your scope and rifle, the accuracy of those rifles was nothing short of fantastic! If you use high quality ammo you should get excellent results with your rifle.
