Even normal people are terrible in even minor events.

Some of you may have seen this video before but bear with me:

This is a dash cam recording of an incident that took place locally to me in 2015.

A mother and her two children lost control and struck the guard rail. While stopped multiple vehicles fly by at high speed without stopping.

A highway patrolman stops to render aid and before he can reach the car, a semi loses control and slams into the vehicle at highway speed. The mother in the parked car is ejected and thrown across the road.

Multiple vehicles blast through the scene. Not stopping, not even slowing down.

These are normal people going about there normal business. Not starving to death, not coping with the end of life as they know it, just normal drivers who absolutely do not care about other people or themselves. Dozens of them. Not a single one stops, only a few even slow down.

The MHP officer Palmer, discovers the women who was ejected shortly before he hears that yet another vehicle has lost control and is barreling down on him and the women.

He pulls her to safety just as that vehicle plows through the scene and wrecks. Palmer received a medal of valor for his actions.

LAST NIGHT.....

About ten minutes after I drove through the area on my way home with a friend from another forum who happened to break down while traveling through the area, a local man who lived a couple miles from me followed a truck full of people from a bar. He flashed his lights at them until they stopped and then opened fire on them, killing one, wounding two others and then fleeing the scene, headed back towards where I live.

A little while later officer Palmer...from the 2015 video sees a vehicle matching the description from the shooting parked outside a local bar. He calls in the vehicle and then goes silent.

A few minutes later backup arrives and finds Palmer shot in the face, still buckled in his vehicle, his windshield filled with bullet holes.

The suspect flees that scene. Later he calls his father and reports that he had an incident of road rage and thinks maybe he shot a cop.

My wife goes to Defcon, I spend the next several hours staged for medical for the firefight that is expected when they find this guy.

Hours later the shooter surrenders without incident. No motive has been released.

Remember....it wasn't SHTF in 2015...and it wasn't SHTF last night. The shooter last night was a local thug, a dime a dozen. The dozens of drivers who blasted through the scene in the 2015 video where just normal people....incompetent, self absorbed, self destructive.

These are the people we will have to deal with.
