Why do we need to know when the "Rapture" is going to happen?

I've never fully understood the incessant interest over when (or if) the Rapture may occur. Can anyone explain it?

If you live your life according to God's Law and Christ's mandates, what are you worried about?

I remember an anecdote told about St. Francis. He was weeding in the Monastery's garden one day, and an acolyte asked him what he would do if he knew that Jesus would return tomorrow. St. Francis replied "I would probably keep weeding".

Now if you have a lifestyle not in line with what Jesus asked...
