I am one of those ultralight hikers, and my midwinter backpack for a weekend weight about 30 lbs, with a loaded 40 cal M&P pistol.
That's recreational backpacking. A gear list for long term survival is drastically different. I would update all my ultralight stuff to things with better durability. This is mostly silnylon upgraded to more durable nylon, adding maybe 10 lbs.
Then I would upgrade my cook kit, add a frying pan for a pound.
Then tools, axe, rifle, ammo, saw, shovel, I mean how far do we go?
For long term survival, not sure I could pack it. My wish list backpack comes in at around 100 lbs
How many try to go ultralight with their bags, to make them easier to carry?
