NYT Article on Increasing Tribalism

This article is shocking. Not so much for the content, as for the fact that an article in the NYT is both interesting and insightful. It also doesn't snarkily malign Trump, which is virtually unheard of in liberal media.

It doesn't come out and say 'tribalism', but a reoccurring theme is that the parties are remaking themselves in the image of their electorate, and their electorates are arranged along racial and geographic lines rather than ideological. When I think about the implications, this is one of the scariest articles I've read in a long time, especially since I re-read Chittums "Civil War 2" recently.
