Who Needs A Well Stocked Remote Bug Out Location?

In another discussion regarding food, these comments were made by another member.
”You have no well stocked BOL. You know this and do nothing to rectify it.”
”you didn't take care of business and get a proper BOL. I'm sure it has to do with finances, so again you are on a fixed budget because you didn't use your time wisely.”
”It's a bad plan to replace the right plan you should have nailed down half your life ago.”

Those comments indicate that the author believes that anyone who does not have a fully stocked remote BOL is not going to survive because they didn’t prepare properly, and that it is their own fault for being lazy or stupid. IMO, comments like that have absolutely no place on a Survivalist Forum.

There is no way to know the numbers, but it is probable that having a well stocked remote BOL is impractical and absurd for 99% of the members here. Being harassed and taunted about not having one is contrary to the purpose of these forums. In addition, it would be foolhardy for anyone here to reveal the location of such a BOL, or possibly even to reveal that they have one.

While a stocked BOL may sound like a smart thing to have, there are problems with that idea.
1. It would probably be very expensive. The nearest available cabin, for instance, could easily cost $150,000 to $300,000. Property on which to build a cabin could cost $5000 - $10,000 per acre
2. Unattended cabins are easy targets for looters.
3. If you visit the location to check on supplies or resupply, you could be followed or be seen doing so.
4. Even if you have the best stocked BOL on Earth, it would not be of any use if you cannot get to it.
5. Once you are there, you would be a target for roving gangs or anyone else who happens by.
6. It is easy to hide several caches. It is really difficult to hide a cabin or hut.

The conclusion is that probably very few members here would ever have, or ever need, a stocked BOL. Also, if they had one, they may not ever get to use it, even in the event of TSHTF.
