My wife and I were pondering father's day today. We have little to no contact with our "children" and everybody is busy living their lives, buried in their devices and monitoring social media. I remember as a kid, going over to my uncles houses and other family members at the drop of a hat. When you stopped in, you were greeted as royalty, fed, and entertained. Everybody was "family." We celebrated father's day, mother's day but most of all we celebrated life and togetherness.
Those folks are mostly all gone now. And the celebrations are gone. And now you need to make "reservations" to even visit people.
We still shake our collective heads at "how far we have come" as a nation... from all the things that we can now only remember in our minds and years of our twilight.
Happy father's day to the fathers who, like me, are missing my father and the days gone by.
