Australia would be a VERY tough nut to crack for the Chinese or anyone else due to it;s size and inhospitable terrain in many parts of it.....the ADF could easily pull into remote areas and run a long term guerrilla / resistance fight.
Additionally, although Australia and NZ are NOT NATO members, they ARE NATO partner Nations...both have served long term in Afghanistan along side ISAF and NATO......VERY good chances are that many NATO nations would assist them, with or without a US involvement.
BOTH are British Commonwealth Nations, and both have answered the calls of Britain in TWO world wars and done some serious fighting.....IF anyone where to attack either or both, Britain and her forces would respond to assist Australia and NZ...so would Canada, perhaps even India......
BOTH of those Nations have FAR FAR more "allies" than just the U.S.......with the new approach to allies and the military that Japan has stepped forward with...perhaps even Japan would come en force to assist defending them....
NO...China is not stupid enough to try and step into Australia or NZ........they will work their way into the Philippines...they will still push the limits in the South China sea but to actually invade ....Not likely.....and Australia isn;t going to let the Chinese move enough ships and planes in to land a seaborne landing force and / or an air lifted assault.
I think you are worrying about something that has very little to no chance of happening...
