How to make EDC, car kits, GHB, and BOB all blend together?

We've got so many kits that I feel unorganized because our stuff is so spread out. Our kits are also a continual work in progress and it's getting expensive to buy the same gear multiple times.

We have a kit under our bed for earthquakes, car kits for multiple vehicles, EDC, get home bag, and BOB.

Is there a way to make each kit capable of standing alone without having redundancy to a fault? Is there a way to make it so most of them blend together and build off each other?

For example, do we just leave space in the top of our bug out bags to dump the contents of our get home bags? Do we store them together? If there is an earthquake that takes out that closet or our ability to access it we'd be up the creek. If we store them in different places and can't get to one we'd be missing gear. It's kind of the same problem we dealt with building our kits so they complimented each other without us having to carry unnecessary weight.

It's hard to know if we should continue the way we are now or just dump everything into a pile and start our kits from scratch. Thanks for any advice you all could give me!
