thermoelectric generators?

so, anyone familiar with thermoelectric generators at all? they are simple devices with two plates on either side that generate electricity when a difference of temperature is created on both sides.. you can create energy by cooling one side, or heating the other.. alternatively running a current through them causes one side to get cold and the other hot as it transfers heat from one side to the other

applications include generating electricity from a heat source (or if you live in a very cold area, potentially from a cold source), ive seen devices of these that attach to your wood stove that generates enough power to run a water pump to pump the heat from the stove through liquid filled baseboard heaters throughout the home.. seen someone make a flashlight powered by body heat from the hand

interesting technology.. anyone have any good ideas on how it could be utilized?
