Evidence-Based Prepping: What Are Your Sources?

I like to base my preparedness efforts on actual evidence whenever possible. Data-driven decisions are more likely than "that sounds about right" thinking to create positive outcomes. But to do that, we need access to good data. So what sources do you use to give you solid data to base your decisions on?

One that I like is Active Self Protection on YouTube. It focuses mainly on violent encounters resolved with firearms, but not exclusively. What sets it apart is that rather than relying on what seems logical or "sounds about right," every video shows an actual violent encounter caught on security cams, body cams, etc., and he breaks them down to see what lessons can be learned. To me, looking at real-world encounters has more value than focusing on a single style's approach (like martial artists often do), or deferring to what the military does (because that's an entirely different context than civilian self-protection).

I don't want to limit this to just guns and self-defense, though. What sources do you trust for food and water storage, infrastructure vulnerabilities, pandemic spread and response, gardening, vehicle equipment...anything?

Let's block ads! (Why?)
