Short term sugar
I'm going to use it to "bring along" a couple people and we are gonna put it and the leftover rice into milar next winter. (Have the milar, not the oxygen absorbers) We've already talked about it.
Got ~100 lbs of sugar sitting on the pallet along with some other stuff.
For the first time in 5 years I have ants around here. Haven't got to the pallet, but got into my apartment.
I bombed the place, and put out DE again, but I don't want to wait till they get to it/come back.
I thought about zip lock bags (sugar is in 4 lb packages, I hit a sale)
But ants can get into that.
Then I remembered I have a 500 count box of zip lock milar. (Each big enough to take a bag of sugar.)
Got them for something else, but I'm thinking stick it in a zip lock (so I can reuse the milar) and then drop them into the milar and stack them back on the pallet for 6 months.
Then we can "learn together" ( I of course just known what I've read off the internet and have "not" put up literal tons of dried goods into milar.) How to put it into long term storage.
Simple, cheap, should work. Make sense?

Just About Everything We Prepped For Is Happening
Good news though, the local Dollar Store has plenty of canned foods, paper towels and toilet paper in stock.
Even more good news, on Saturday May 30th we picked around 4 five gallon buckets of corn, around 2 1/2 gallons of cucumbers, and around 3/4 bucket of squash and snap beans, and that was just from one row.
It is almost surreal watching the news. We have been preaching to the sheeple to prep, they ignored the prepping community, and now we are dealing with a global pandemic and riots.
I was watching the news about the riots. The news announcer said this is the first time since World War II the Michigan national Guard has been fully deployed. Talked to my mom over the weekend. She said the only thing she can compare this to is the Civil Rights marches in the 1960s. We have probably not seen this level of violence since Martin Luther King Jr was assassinated.
Then there are the foreign actors of Antifa who are inciting violence. I say foreign as in they are going to communities where they do not live and inciting violence.

Advice for Bean Storage
In my region, most staples (except for wheat flour) aren't available in individual 50lbs packages. Bulk purchases are just bundles of smaller packs. I bought it at a wholesaler, so I did get a good deal.
Please keep in mind that I've just started, and this is a stock for one person. I thought it would make sense to use smaller containers at first and see how it goes.
Those buckets go for around $10 a pop around here, which is enough to buy another 10 kg of beans. Once I've secured a year's worth of staples, I'll certainly consider more expensive and effective measures for long term storage, but right now I'm making do with what's on hand.
I'm working around budget constraints, so my journey will be one step at a time.
Again, thanks for the advice!

Greetings from Brazil
After lurking in these here forums for a while, I've decided to join your great community.
I'd like to thank you for the wealth of information you've been sharing with the world; being stranded in an urban environment for the time being, it's comforting to know I have a reliable source of knowledge in these weird times we're going through, and those still ahead of us.
I hope everyone is well, and I intend to contribute as much I can.
Again, thank you very much!

Survival/Prep oriented Games Forum?
There is much potential seeing as "survival" is the point of all games...even Tetris lol. Someone here started a tabletop (well, campsite dirttop) rpg and I somehow can't find the post. I was just playing This War of Mine (modable on Steam platform...not sure to what extent). My wife loves farming games (weed farmer is forbidden in my house...but for the addictive nature and playability). There's so many examples of reasons that forum should exist.
On the downside, many of them do take away the time you could be personally achieving stability in the realtime. Eh, but why not>?
If I missed it...someone PM the forum please

The wide spread Raids could begin ...
No doubt businesses would have already been closing and pulling out of major cities because of COVID-19. Cities were the most restrictive, and therefore least capable of taking care of themselves. Cities are expensive to run, and hard working citizens were already leaving during COVID-19, with more planned to leave afterwards. Cities have absolutely no way to function on their own, and the only people who will be left in the end are the dirt poor, homeless and welfare citizens. Even many of the hard working Americans in cities don't live there, they live on the outskirts. Then add the Riots.
So companies which produce products including Food are only going to sell where they have a decent market - but also when they can afford to operate. Many companies across the board have had to close, temporarily or permanently. At some point it is useless to operate your business and you close. Most companies are not going to deliver during these riots. BUT if things continue much longer, these cities wont be able to even purchase basic items due to lack of funds. Gas stops being delivered, food, all supplies. People go hungry - people get desperate.
Now what ?
They move out from the cities. They first start car jacking and robbing locals on the outskirts, then move into the Suburbs. They may or not make it into the countryside, but by the Suburb / Countryside line they will meet severe resistance. The other problem is that when things get too dangerous for Police Officers families, they are going to abandon their positions and leave.
We could have roaming bandits of city dwellers moving outside of the cities not too long from now.
The wide spread Raids could begin ...
Is the problem "White Supremacy" or is there more to the story?
I would like to touch on a few of the allegations against police and white people in general.
PLEASE, please feel feel to correct me, educate me, enlighten me and show me where I'm wrong or missing something.
White Crime/Black Crime: The typically allegation is that white people and white officers are killing black folks. Does this happen? Yes but what's the larger picture?
-It's a simple fact that black men commit nearly half of all murders in this country, which is astounding when you take into consideration the fact that they only make up 12-13% of the population. Blacks males are just 6.5% of the population yet represent over 50% of all murders. Black offenders committed 52% of homicides recorded in the data between 1980 and 2008. Only 45% of the offenders were white or 68% of the population.
Further more 93% of black victims were killed by other blacks. Where is the focus?
-According to the FBI (2011 to 2013) 38.5% of people arrested for manslaughter, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault were black who represent just 13% of the population.
Black people are unfairly denied loans for houses:
In these "conversations" we hear allegations that blacks are unfairly denied loans for housing thusly causing great financial damage to the black family just because of the color of their skin. We see countless studies that show white home ownership vs black ownership and the obvious disparity.
Quote:
Example: Between 1999 and 2015, white young adults ages 18 to 34 had the highest homeownership rate of any racial or ethnic group, at 42%, while only 18% of black young adults were homeowners. |
Actually no!
As most people know, home loans are driven by FICO scores and not race. According to FreddieMac: Blacks still fall greatly behind whites is credit worthiness. As it turns out Bank of America, Citibank, Wells Fargo doesn't care what color your skin is but they seem to greatly care about your abilty to repay loans and use FICO scores to determine this. The whites that have above 700 FICO scores is over 50%, while only 39.5% of black have scores above 700.
Nearly 80% of black children grow up fatherless and live in single parent households. In any measure this is a recipe for financial disaster and instability. Clearly racism can't be blamed for this massive neglect but rather the problem is internal.
Don't banks practice Redlining?
Don't banks purposely withhold loans to blacks because of the neighborhood they live in? Yet another sneaky way to destroy the black family...right?
Actually no!
It's true bank don't like to invest in high-crime and declining areas but withholding loans to people based on skin color is false. Not only false but completely illegal. Just try to get a 300-400K home loan to build a home in many Detroit neighborhoods no matter what color your skin is.
White Supremacy is the problem?:
Personally I have never met another white person who believes he/she their skin shade makes them better than others. Maybe it's me but I have yet to meet that person. I have never seen KKK members burn a city or lead crime statistics in nearly every category. According to the (ADL) the state of the KKK has been in major decline for decades. They are mostly a collection of small, disjointed groups that often change names and leadership. They are universally rejected by the vast majority of all peoples.
If there are people who claim their skin color makes them superior then I would suggest that for every white supremist there is a black racist like Ray Nagin, a Rev. Sharpton and a Jessy Jackson who have all made supremist comments.
What's the real problem:
White liberals go out of their way to find the most dysfunctional aspects of black culture and celebrate them without hesitation and use them as evidence of racism.
When they see a black person who displayed any evidence of culture and refinement, they dismiss him as inauthentic (uncle Toms). They want a slave narrative to make them happy, and will stop at nothing until they get one.
The Left-wing "Great Society programs" were designed to keep blacks down with broken dysfunctional unionized public schools, removal of fathers, public housing ghetto's and has left blacks worse off both politically and economically long before the civil rights movement began.
Is the problem "White Supremacy" or is there more to the story?

Antifa Back In Action in Riots
On joinantifa.com the thugs offer a definition of who they are:
“The antifa (/ænˈtiːfə, ˈæntiˌfɑː/)[1] movement is composed of left-wing, autonomous, militant anti-fascist[7] groups and individuals in the United States.[11] The principal feature of antifa groups is their use of direct action,[12] with conflicts occurring both online and in real life.[13] They engage in varied protest tactics, which include digital activism, property damage, physical violence, and harassment against those whom they identify as fascist, racist, or on the far-right.[18]
Activists involved in the movement tend to be anti-capitalists[19] and subscribe to a range of ideologies, typically on the left. They include anarchists, socialists and communists along with some liberals and social democrats.[26] Their stated focus is on fighting far-right and white supremacist ideologies directly, rather than through electoral means.[25]”
These thugs are nothing but leftist terrorists and should be treated accordingly.

Faults Muslims Admit About Muhammad?
Then I thought of other faulty people and prophets in the Bible. Adam did not stop Eve. Noah got drunk. Moses got angry. Jonah ran away. Abraham denied his wife. Peter, of course, denied Christ. The Bible even records Christ's teaching turning people off (when he talked of cannibalism, John 6).
This got me thinking about whether Muslims admit faults about Muhammad? NOTE: I am not asking non-Muslims to list Muhammad's faults but any Muslim or link to Muslims who admit Muhammad's faults. One big fault I came across is that the Koran does not identify any miracles Muhammad performed (and how performing a miracle is an OT requirement).
BTW, I do not recall the OT requiring a miracle to confirm one is a true prophet of God. However, that is compelling. Can anyone elaborate on this? Thanks!

Major cities, ongoing riots, vandalism, arson & looting - WTF?
I cannot understand destructive riots that involve vandalism, arson & looting that destroy infrastructure, vehicles, ATM's, stores, buildings, business's & damage local communities.
In my opinion, the bulk of involved rioting individuals aren't doing so because of George Floyds killing. They are violent destructive low life's doing so, for no good reason, other than potential personal benefit.
Pictures of these rioters burning the American flag really ****'s me off.

Chicken Snake Acted Like He Was Venomous
I laughed, then stuck the bottom of my foot out to see what he would do. He struck at my shoe, not once but twice. It was kinda funny him acting like his bite could actually do something. After a couple of strikes he gave up and slithered into the bushes.
I could feel his teeth grab the bottom of my shoe. If he had grabbed flesh I am sure he would have drawn blood. Now go catch some rats.

Lower cost version of Spam
Years back, I bought Armor Treet, thinking it was just generic Spam. It's not. It's absolutely horrible and to me, inedible.
I did just make a nice find though. Walmart's store brand "luncheon meat" is about 1/3 less expensive than Spam and tastes the same. I haven't tried them side by side to see if they taste different. But I couldn't tell this wasn't spam just by tasting it. And for $2 a can, it's a good deal too.
Next I want to try Nalley's canned tamales to see if they are as good as the Hormel brand. They're cheaper by a long shot. But the website always shows them out of stock when I'm ready to make an order.

I wonder if dugouts were cooler in the summer
When I left Michigan, I left my house with a full basement. Usually about 10 degrees cooler than the main floor even in August.
No chance for a full basement in the part of Texas where I live. Ground water too close to the surface is what I've been told.

HAM Radio
At one of our sites at work they are installing a repeater, on a tower, to be able to communicate with the handheld radios where they get down into the canyons where they do not have much of a signal (about 10,000 acre area that it about 30 miles from the nearest pavement).
I just want to get a better understanding of what is going on and how it does, or does not relate to HAM(my experience is limited to many years ago using CB with both upper and lower side band).
I do not know what make/model the handheld radios are, but the two units that they are installing in the vehicles are labeled “Any Tone Mobile Radio” Model 5888UV and it says “Dual Band FM Transceiver” cross the top of the front of the radio.
I am curious how this all relates to “HAM Radio” and how UHF vs VHS ties into it. I also am curious how it all relates to commercial vs amateur and licensed vs unlicensed frequencies.
So, bottom line is that I am not looking for anybody to spend a lot of time trying to teach me about the different radios and what does or does not make a good choice, or how to get licensed and start into the world of radio. I am just hoping that somebody might be able to point me in the right direction to find something that will give me the basics of what the terms mean and how they relate to each other. I have seen a couple of YouTube vids on it, but they are either about why radio is a great thing or about which radios are best. While I agree that radio is a good thing to have out there, and I might eventually get into it, I am just looking to understand how everything fits together right now.
Thanks.

I guess everyone is human at some point and can make a mistake.
They will have a press briefing around 11 am I think they said.
They said the back door of the home was open and there was a report of someone suspicious in the area, so I guess they were on edge.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing about it simply missing the vest.

The Father's gift in Christ
Our Lord commanded us to baptize in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. In baptism, then, we profess faith in the Creator, in the only-begotten Son and in the gift which is the Spirit. There is one Creator of all things, for in God there is one Father from whom all things have their being. And there is one only-begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom all things exist. And there is one Spirit, the gift who is in all. So all follow their due order, according to the proper operation of each: one power, which brings all things into being, one Son, through whom all things come to be, and one gift of perfect hope. Nothing is wanting to this flawless union: in Father, Son and Holy Spirit, there is infinity of endless being, perfect reflection of the divine image, and mutual enjoyment of the gift. Our Lord has described the purpose of the Spirit’s presence in us. Let us listen to his words: I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. It is to your advantage that I go away; if I go, I will send you the Advocate. And also: I will ask the Father and he will give you another Counselor to be with you for ever, the Spirit of truth. He will guide you into all the truth; for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine.
From among many of our Lord’s sayings, these have been chosen to guide our understanding, for they reveal to us the intention of the giver, the nature of the gift and the condition for its reception. Since our weak minds cannot comprehend the Father or the Son, we have been given the Holy Spirit as our intermediary and advocate, to shed light on that hard doctrine of our faith, the incarnation of God.
We receive the Spirit of truth so that we can know the things of God. In order to grasp this, consider how useless the faculties of the human body would become if they were denied their exercise. Our eyes cannot fulfill their task without light, either natural or artificial; our ears cannot react without sound vibrations, and in the absence of any odor our nostrils are ignorant of their function. Not that these senses would lose their own nature if they were not used; rather, they demand objects of experience in order to function. It is the same with the human soul. Unless it absorbs the gift of the Spirit through faith, the mind has the ability to know God but lacks the light necessary for that knowledge.
This unique gift which is in Christ is offered in its fullness to everyone. It is everywhere available, but it is given to each man in proportion to his readiness to receive it. Its presence is the fuller, the greater a man’s desire to be worthy of it. This gift will remain with us until the end of the world, and will be our comfort in the time of waiting. By the favors it bestows, it is the pledge of our hope for the future, the light of our minds, and the splendor that irradiates our understanding.

Compact plasma lighter / fashlight combo
(gifts for the family & BOL group members)
I'm impressed with how well they hold a charge.
I just took a few out that had been stored untouched for 8 months.
All had at least a 50% charge.
They are functional, lightweight & durable.
Waterproof, work well in wind, as they have no flame to blow out.
Flashlight is pretty good for what it is.
So long as you have the means to recharge one, they are very effective.

My "grayman" vehicle
I have a variety of vehicles. I wanted a "grayman" sedan with excellent power, comfort, and safety. I looked at many options and quickly ruled out anything German (cost, poor reliability, and parts/mechanic scarcity). Also eliminated any of this eco-boast nonsense, these puny turbo 4 cylinders that will die an early death, and layers of stupid electronics that nobody knows how to fix and they cripple a car when they break. I focused on 15-30 years old, V8, low miles, excellent condition, excellent safety and reliability records.
I zeroed in on the Ford Crown Vic platform shared with the Mercury Grand Marquis, Mercury Maurader, and Lincoln Town Car. The engines were 4.6 liter V8s with respectable numbers, albeit seemingly somewhat anemic for that size motor (they did have an poorly designed manifold head gasket that would leak, an issue from the 90s to early 2002 that has supposedly been resolved). The Vics were famously fleet cars for law enforcement and taxis, and have a good reputation. There's probably 10s of millions of them in service and in junk yards, and every town has Ford mechanics and parts for these. These also have excellent crash ratings, ABS, disc brakes, airbags, and great visibility. Fuel economy is ~25mpg on the hwy and high teens in town, which is sufficient for me.
Anyway, some online searching led me to a great local find, a 2005. It's in excellent condition with less than 100,000 miles. Drives great and surprisingly great acceleration for a 2 ton car. Very professional looking, low profile, very comfortable driver, blends in, and great for short or long trips. Huge trunk for storage. And from an era where it's not too complicated to work on and most shade tree mechanics can tear the car apart and fix it without too much problem and parts are widely available. I believe Ford used that 4.6L in a lot of vehicles.
I never thought I'd be a Mercury owner, as they seem to have a real negative association with old retirees. But here, that really is a benefit. See, the Crown Vics are commonly really abused because they attract a segment that abuses cars like Mustangs and Camaros. But the Marquis is more refined, and attracts a more mature owner who drives conservatively, garages it, washes it, and gets it maintained at the dealership.
Anyway, if you're in the market, you can get cars of this vintage in excellent condition for about 1/10th their original cost but with still about 75% of their useful life remaining... [Figuring the car originally retailed for ~$30,000 and can be found for around $3000 - I did better than that - and these will last say 40 years or 400,000 miles if well maintained and not abused, so if you get one at say 10-15 years old or 100,000 miles you're only about 25% into it's realistic life expectancy.]
I never thought I'd get so much joy from a Mercury boat of a car, but this is just a fantastic ride to blend in but still have great performance and safety at an absurdly low pricetag.
NOW is the time to get out there and get those useful vehicles you've been wanting.

I'm At it again
In January I came on here and asked for prayers for my brother, who passed away on January 31, 2020. So it was not in God's will that he survived. Now in 4 days my best friend is going into surgery to have a brain tumor removed and she is very scared. I am asking for prayer for her to remain calm and to pull through. She is a good woman and has an underage son that I do not wish to see go through life without his mother. Also, I have already lost one loved one this year, I do not want to lose another one so soon. So I am asking once again for my friends and colleagues on here to please pray for my friend. Thank you all who do so, and I didn't even mention the screwed up part. She has to remain awake through the whole procedure and talk to the doctor. It started out as what is called a low grade Glyoma and has progressed into three different parts of her brain. Again, Thank you and to those that don't pray, please send some luck her way.

How did this site get hijacked by 'closet' lefties?
Without calling anybody out in particular to avoid more monkey poo how did this forum get circumstanced? In fact how did the web get so circumstanced? A major change in 2015-16 happened on a lot of forums where survival/fringe forums got shut down due to DDOS attacks then reopened but people then saw things were not quite right and got quickly booted out if they got to close to the truth and weird tracking things were put on people's computers who were not protected.
This is like how the talk radio shows used to be. They would get flooded with 'calls' on call in days people pretending to be neutral then go ballistic when called out as they back pedal and try to cover it up only to get caught more and more till it's quite obvious and they get blocked..
It seems they went from there to the digital world and spew out weird crap. How did the internet lose it's information highway now most stuff is old on search results as in 3 or more years. It seems 2017 was a big year for a lot of calling out as most articles about calling on tech censorship originate from that period.

Cheap meat everywhere.
Here is something for you all to check out. Here and in neighboring States. The Amish, Mennonites and Hutterites have been selling whole hogs, cut and wrapped, including smoked hams and bacon for 250 bucks.
Keep an eye out for local producers selling off livestock cheap, in many cases, pennies on the dollar cheap.
I am so regretting having downsized or I would have 2 hogs hanging by tomorrow night.

Groundkeepers on Homestead?
I know some of you have remote homesteads.....here in Florida even the smallest amount of acreage can become overgrown in 90 days in the rainy season.
I am exploring allowing a family to stay in a mobile home on the property to maintain the land.
The idea here is to swap checks.....charge them rent and they charge me to maintain.....thus I can maintain the landlord tenant relationship while at the same time having a "zero dollar" exchange.
I feel this might alleviate "Meth Zombies" from invading other parts of the property while I build and off grid home.
Does anybody have experience with this or can direct me to a good resource about this?

Think about how every day a person in a police uniform is lied to, spat at, flipped off, degraded, and berated, just because they happen to be wearing said uniform.
I have to give credit to those folks in blue who manage to keep it in check and *NOT* kill someone by kneeling on their neck for an inordinate amount of time, or laying an excessive beat-down on someone who might have just tugged on that last straw and it pushed them over the edge.
Sure, there are some bad apples -- a lot of it having to do with the fact that fewer and fewer people even *want* to pursue a career in law enforcement, so you kind of scrape the bottom of the barrel just to fill the uniforms -- but there are a lot more good folks out there.
Maybe I'm lucky because of where I live. Things are relatively peaceful here in my burg, and I happen to know by first name most of our police officers and deputies, along with the chief and the sheriff. We do have that criminal element bubbling just below the surface that our folks to an awesome job of keeping in check. We do have our SJW element here as well, who like to project the problems with law enforcement across the country onto our fine folks in blue (to no avail).
I'm not sure where I'm going with this, but I think I'm there. TLDR: The majority of LEOs aren't racist, murderous a-holes.

Contact Tracing Is Here
Now, on the other hand, John Doe public would not only tolerate, but would likely insist on big brother tracking the people that are "infected with this deadly flu".
So some unsespecting sap agrees to take big brother's "flu test" using the swab that big brother provides, that is pre-designed (claimed by some in the medical industry) to give a false positive, well now the daily activities of the sap is now going to be tracked. And the rest of John Doe public is perfectly fine with that.
Perhaps, at the end of the day, we deserve what big brother is dishing out to us.

When they insert themselves through editing and shadow banning they become editorialists and not platforms.

FDA changes regulations: food labels no longer need to be accurate
As long as it is not a vital part of the food the manufacturers are can substitute the ingredients. For example if a food usually has wheat flour as a small component, it can have corn in it instead and the label need not be changed. HOWEVER, raisin bread must have raisins in it and not chopped up dates, as raisins are vital to raisin bread
Personally, as a person with food allergies, I am NOT happy about this! While the most common allergy foods cannot be added without changing the label, I am allergic to a LOT of foods, not just the most common allergy foods. And I avoid those foods by reading the labels. And now the labels do not need to be accurate

...for those who think New Zealand is an outstanding anti-Xivirus success story...
We haven't eliminated it and we haven't eradicated it; the government has just changed the dictionary definitions of those two words; and so far the media have been extremely cooperative in not reminding the government of what they have promised as recently as a couple of months ago.
With one or possibly two* exceptions, all of the deaths so far have been in the very elderly ("the authorities" are keeping very close lipped about causes of death, ostensibly for reasons of confidentiality, but are not even releasing aggregate details). Deaths from the effects of lockdown already outnumber deaths from the virus.
Much of the world has lauded the socialist Comrade Dear Leader for her leadership and success. I am naturally of the opposite view. She was very late to take any concrete steps, for reasons I won't bore you with in this post; and after failing to secure the border, failing to institute appropriate inbound passenger testing, failing to exclude infected cruise ships, failing to prepare for early and widespread testing, failing to prepare PPE supplies and a host of other failures - and then denying a lockdown was coming... suddenly after she talked to some friends in London (by her own public and published admission) she locked the country down for 50 days.
She continues to claim - as do her sycophants - that New Zealand went hard and fast. No, we delayed, prevaricated, did not plan, did not prepare, and subsequently overreached hugely. The government has chosen industry winners and losers - and turned us more or less within a month to a country where 40% will need to support the other 60% for the foreseeable future, and to do so not for months but for years. A surplus of $20 billion has turned into a projected possible deficit of $200 billion by 2023.
...and what now with the virus? because, while we have managed to clamp down on cases - because we are lucky enough to have a large amount of water surrounding us and so you can't drive through our frontier, and air travel has collapsed so we are able to keep up with quarantining the inbound people the government still lets arrive (having basically lied about closing the border to foreigners, and just been found out...) - we cannot stay in a country-sized bubble forever without going back to an early 1900's style of living and a huge mental and physical illness and injury toll. Even if we wanted to do that, and accepted to do that, we simply couldn't afford to pay for imports.
But the entire plan so far from the NZ government appears to be threefold
1. "we be waiting for a vaccine". Sure, and we been waiting for a vaccine against HIV for 40 years.
2. "we be encouraging New Zealanders to travel domestically". Sure, with what money exactly since more than half the population are now out of work and on unemployment, sickness or wage subsidy benefits?
3. "we be opening up a trans-Tasman travel bubble shortly." Sure, and anybody with money to travel will probably buy a one-way ticket to Australia.
As others have said, her job was to flatten the curve. Instead she flattened our country.
I saw no reason to ever travel to Venezuela. and now as it turns out, I don't need to, my country will become Venezuela.

With regard to truck camper weight, what does this sticker indicate?
Add the weight of the camper, with all tanks full and loaded with gear to the truck weight and it should be 10,000 pounds or under. Some big campers may require a dual tire truck.
If you get a TC, put a metal toolbox out in front of the truck on the front hitch for the snowplow. Also some solar panels on the roof.

Using Tri-Chlor instead of Cal-Hypo?
The shelf life issues, off-gassing, and hazards associated with keeping a large quantity of class-3 oxidizer in my basement have kept me away from Cal-Hypo.
However I've found what is, according to online sources, a viable alternative to cal-hypo called tri-chlor, which has a longer shelf life, and isn't nearly as volatile to keep around.
But before I started stocking up, I wanted to hear your thoughts and opinions. Are there downsides to tri-chlor vs cal-hypo? Compelling reasons to choose the option that is less safe to store?

Benjamin Trail XL air rifle in .22?
I've looked at this air rifle for a while:
https://www.pyramydair.com/s/m/Benja...ifle/2052#4170
I wanted to know if anyone has any experience? It is touted as being quiet (90 dB). Claims are that it is accurate and powerful. A .22 pellet should drop anything I want to go after (sparrows, red squirrels, or anything larger); the .177 pellet out of my air pistol has maimed more red squirrels than killed. This will be what I teach my sons on before we move up to .22LR and bigger. Plus it is not "tacticool"; an AR or HK replica would hit a hard stop with the wife.
Pre-charged pneumatic rifles are neat, but they are expensive ($500ish for the ones I would want) and require other parts-n-pieces (pumps, adapters, etc.). I like the simplicity of the single shot, break barrel...basically endless shooting until you run out of ammo. No follow-up shot, but I'll go to my Marlin or 10/22 if I really need that and watch my background.
Thanks!
