Magnetic Anomoly Weakening Earths Magnetic Field

So I saw stories about this previously but didnt really think twice about it. Today though I saw this article:

It talks about how the field is splitting in two.. saying that the effect may duplicate.

Anyone know anything about this?

I know the weakening of Earth´s magnetic field is a bad thing.

Anyone got theories on this?
