Is this smart gun technology going to be mandated or is that the fear?

So I know back in January Obama signed an executive order to speed up the development of smart gun technology but I haven't seen a whole lot of specifics other then alphabet agencies have to come up with some deadline by October. So the million dollar question is are they going to try and mandate these guns? First let me say I Detest plastic/polymer guns!

Secondly they only come in like .22 LR and 9mm! What kind of p0osY crap is that? I'm a fan of 9mm but I wouldn't want it as an only handgun round...and I detest polymer pistols. I like heavy chunky Steel guns! And I like heavy chunky 300+ grain bullets that go well in excess of 1200 Feet per Second!

I'm giving them way too much consideration as ultimately I do not care what TPTB say but I'm all for free market capitalism but are they trying to make it mandatory?
