You are really asking is there some kind of solution you don't need supplies for or you can get the supplies from nature somehow. You are hoping to learn how to make truly safe water without modern consumables.

Unless you invest in a steel roof, Sawyer filters, piping, tanks, and other assorted components for a long life rain collection system then the answer is no.

Almost everything out there uses modern consumables somehow. Even the rain gathering system will be vulnerable to airborne toxins if somehow the air gets worse (fallout, ash, thick smog, heavy acid rain, etc) and you don't have activated carbon supplies.

Also remember that purify is a very special word. It specifically means removing removing all life forms from water including viruses. I believe the word you want is filter, which has a wider latitude of definition.
