Sleeping bag alternative for Central FL winter

Ok, so I'm going camping in winter and practice bushcraft/primitive survival and for those who haven't seen my threads in the Wilderness Survival board and don't know, I'm a huge guy. Most sleeping bags I like don't seem like they'd fit me, and frankly even when younger and thinner, I never much cared for sleeping bags, plus I'm on a budget. I got myself a Snugpak Jungle Blanket today on Amazon for just $24.50 and I'm liking it aside from the topside shell being incredibly slippery. It's supposed to keep one warm down to 36F though I'm sure there's a margin of error there.

Anyway... my question is, with a good tent, thermarest ridgerest, and the jungle blanket, plus my own considerable insulation (wearing nothing but underwear in 40F isn't a problem for me), do you think I've got myself an acceptable alternative or should I get more protection? I'm thinking of snagging a second SJB while they are still on sale and sleeping atop one and have the other over me.

Let's block ads! (Why?)
