Weed question: This weed is invading my garden

This weed is thick in my garden. It starts out small with leaves that almost resemble tomato plant leaves, but as it grows those leaves get narrow and it grows these small yellow flowers. The root it thick, deep, and very tough like a dandelion root. Anyone know what it is? Southern part of Illinois 6B.
