22 LR revolver cylinder gap noise

Gents not being a revolver user I was wondering whether they would be much noisier than a semi-auto pistol in 22LR?

Also does increasing barrel length make a difference to shooter percieved noise in revolvers or is the cylinder gap producing most of the noise anyway?
