What's the longest you've gone without sleep?

Right after delivering my daughter, between feeding and changing and rocking and visitors and nurses and insurance people and doctors and students and pushy photographers who won't take "no" for an answer til you shove them out the door and lord knows who else coming in to check up on us after the emergency c-section, I never slept. I'm generally a very pleasant and mild mannered person but after about 55 hours of no sleep I got snippy with one of the nurses. I had just gotten my daughter to sleep again and was about to finally close my eyes myself when she came in for a vitals check (which meant waking up the baby. Again.) I'll never forget the way she patronized me, acting as if this was my first rodeo and I was just overcome by "new mother lack of sleep." Oooh that still makes me so mad.

Delivering my son years before that was a close 2nd, 48 hour labor with no sleep and no pain meds, and they didn't let me go to sleep until about 4 hours after I delivered him. So about 52 hours.

I was confused and easily irritated and my concentration was at absolute zero.

Edited to add: I think the fatigue was exacerbated by the fact that I wasn't eating either. 2.5 days with no sleep AND no food? That nurse is lucky I didn't kick her in the kneecap.
