I would like one that would fit on our 20 foot flatbed truck (it can carry about 10,000 pounds max).
The 20 foot containers that are 8 feet wide and about 8.5 feet high with a set of double doors on one end sound perfect. They seem to be about 4500 to 5000 pounds empty.
1) Could I legally carry these on our flatbed truck with chain binders on the corners and maybe two 4" ratchet straps across the top? I don't have a CDL because our truck is 19,500lb GVWR and is not used for anything commercial.
2) Is used ok? Do they ever reek of some nasty stuff that they were used to carry, or dangerous chemicals?
3) How much should one expect to pay for a 20 foot container like this in the Washington state area? Picking it up ourselves would be a bonus toward opsec but would it significantly reduce the cost compared to delivery?
4) How do they do under snow loads and cold weather? Just for storage of stuff to keep mice and snow/rain out, not for keeping artwork or living inside.
Thanks for any tips.
School me on shipping containers please!
