Estwing tools- New Machete

I agree that Estwing makes quality stuff for the money. I've never had one of their machetes but I would think a 10 inch one would be a bit small. Have you looked into Tramontina machetes? They are thin and a bit more flexible than a lot of machetes.

They are made in El Salvador and those people know how to make machetes because they use them for tons of things. And the best thing is, they are very cheap. You can usually find them for well under $20. They often do not come with much of an edge but they can be sharpened pretty easily with a file or a sharpening puck or something like that. I'm not certain but I think you might have a chance to find them at a local Lowe's or you can order online. They do not come with a sheath so you might have to look into that.

Another option, although heavier, would be to check out the Ontario Machete. They make a couple of sizes in it I think. It's more expensive and thicker and more robust. That might be a plus for you and it might be a negative, depending on what you're chopping.

If you're interested in looking at either of those machetes, I'll try to leave a link to somewhere that you can find them for a reasonable price.

You might also try Amazon if you're not comfortable with Machete Specialist but as far as I am aware, they are a good and legit company. Good luck with your search and keep us updated with what you find and how it works for you.
