How much, if any, of the internet and email would survive an EMP?

First, why would you expect any of it to survive?

Second, if pieces of it DID survive, I would expect prioritized access to the internet - government and large businesses and rescue efforts like food distribution would have priority access. I don't think emailing cousin Martha would be considered terribly important.

Third, even if the internet survived, your access to it might not have survived. To have internet access you need electricity, communication, and connectivity to a 'net point of presence. Having all of these seems like it would be amazing, at best.
