New carb for genny- fill tank and test?

OK - seeking advice.

So I have a Honda 2500w and a Pramac 5000w (9hp Subaru). The Honda has ALWAYS worked well.

The Pramac was a pawnshop buy (a post Ike Hurricane genny). It has always had problems with the carb. I was able to rebuild and clean it up a few years ago. It only ever worked 'ok". I run it....occasionally. I have only stored Stabil fuel in it.

I tested it before Harvey hit and had to start with Carb Cleaner and it still loped horribly. So tonight I ordered a brand new carb.

My question is......Should I just bolt it on and not refill gas/test? or fill and go back to Stabil treated gas (like the Honda).

I should add- I have added a Nat Gas conversion on it. And will be my primary usage in the event I have to use it. It is now Bi-fuel. Should I replace, keep dry, and just test Nat Gas? The primary purpose for this one is to run a window AC and fridge. Whereas the Honda is a backup for lesser items and more portable.

Let's block ads! (Why?)
