Plastic bottle water storage

OK, quick and dirty water storage observation: Many years ago (5-8 years) I stashed a bunch of plastic bottles of Crystal Geyser brand drinking water in a Rubbermade shed under a covered patio "just in case." On a different website (CalGuns) there was a discussion about water storage and it got me to thinking about this water and if it remained fit to drink---opinions ran many ways, some folks said it would have mold in it, some folks said it would taste "flat", but be drinkable if you needed to, some folks said it would have a "plastic" taste, but would still be OK to drink and finally, some folks claimed it would be just fine.
So today I got one of the gallon jugs (factory sealed) out of storage and wiped a small bit of dust off the top surfaces of the bottle. The water looked completely clear and well, looked just like water---I removed the cap and poured a small glass---looked and smelled fine---both my wife and I tasted it and said the same thing: tastes just like water---no mold, plastic, flat, nothin'---just water!
OK, not extremely scientific, but that's it---for what it's worth…
