Amazon now has more office space than the next 40 companies in town combined. Boeing was the driver in the 70s but headquarters are now in Chicago and good blue collar jobs have declined by over 2/3 while production has increased. Its nice to have good jobs but there is concern about one company becoming so dominant, what happens if there is a crash like with wamu. Oddly brick and mortar retail is booming here, too. Amazon is more than retail though.
Seattle new company town?
