Heating efficiency?

The short answer is no. You can heat the air or you can heat objects in the room that heat the air. Infra red radiation pass through the air and heats objects it can even work in a vacuum.

There is fixed amount of heat in a kilowatt-hr so however you burn electricity it's essentially the same. You can have heat down by the floor at the start but it goes up to the ceiling by convection.
