.30-30?.. screw that.. the size and weight of a .308, the ballistics of a 7.62x39, and costs more than both combined.. forget the 30-30, you can get the same thing from an AKM or .300BO AR-15 (but id recommend 5.56mm), itd cost you less, ammo would cost way less, it'd be far better for hunting, and self defense.. just skip over the .30-30 and go straight to an automatic..you can currently get an AR-15 for the same price as that marlin

as for a sidearm, get whatever works for you (i recommend a 9mm though)

oh.. and a cheap way to cover that rimfire option.. if your AR-15 is a 5.56, you can get a .22lr chamber insert and fire .22s out of the AR-15 for small game
