garden box treatments??

I have built several raised beds from redwood previously and not worried due to its characteristics.

I know not to use treated lumber as well.....

I came into possession of 30plus 2x12x6' doug fir

Some of these will be directly sitting on the ground, others will be raised on stilts, and of course filled with soil. What is the expected life of this if untreated? I have heard from one season to a few years and wondered if there are any on hands experience.

What I am looking for is a food safe product that may extend the service life of the doug fir.

What I did with the redwood that was recovered. Will try to do something similar. I just want to have something that doesnt fall apart in a year.
