Long term firearm storage

I would store the magazines in a couple ammo cans with good seals and toss in a bunch of desiccant bags. I'd store the rifle in an anti corrosion bag and again toss in some desiccants.

If the government were really going to do a search of peoples homes for guns they would employ X-rays or metal detectors to investigate all the walls. Hiding guns in the walls is a pretty well known trick these days.
