"Furniture" You Can Make in the Woods

I made these pieces of "caveman furniture" to outfit the bushcraft shelter I built. It's fun to sit on the ground while the weather is agreeable, but before long you'll wish you had something insulating you from the cold and/or the wet.

One of these is just a simple mat that has a wicker bottom and piece of moss attached to it. Put it anywhere, carry it around. Very basic and easy to make.

The rollup mat is for lying down for the most part. This is used in the nighttime shelter, but there is no reason why couldn't carry this around as well.

The "Indian backrest" is a variation on a very old theme. Somebody once told me that the Lakota would line this with buffalo hide. I don't have anything like that available to me, so I stuck with a dowl-and-moss construction.
