The "Fantasy" of SHTF vs the Quarantine Reality

I'll admit that in the earliest days of my interest in the survivalist/SHTF/prepper community I was driven by a certain sort of almost juvenile fantasy, I was a "zombie prepper". I suspect more than a few of those have come to TSB over the years.

As time has gone on, I would like to believe my approach has become more pragmatic year by year. But like many of you (I suspect) there has always been an element of excitement or at least desire for vindication. Some of you may have felt that back at the end of February when it first became clear "something" serious was going to happen.

But a thought struck me recently, as I thought about the ongoing situation.

If you think the quarantine is a depressing, unhappy, uncomfortable, boring mess (as most Americans do), then you probably won't be having a lot of fun after the balloon goes up, either.

At least with this problem, we still have vital services, and there is an end in sight. If we're struggling to learn to embrace the suck now, imagine how we'd be in a true, open-ended, harrowing event.

Let's block ads! (Why?)
