After graduating highschool in 2016, would you go college or trade school?

Preface: I have a couple cousins who are graduating highschool in a month or so and I want to give them the best advice possible to help with their future.

I personally went to college, accumulated tons of debt, and ended up securing a career in an industry that didn't even require a college degree.

I have lots of friends who skipped college, and went to trade schools to learn HVAC, electrical, and plumbing. These friends of mine are living debt free and have been working with their employer since they were first hired. In contrary, my friends who have college degrees seem to always be working with new companies in new industries almost yearly it seems.

Anyways, if you were to personally rewind your life to the point where you are just graduating in 2016, what would you do with your life?

I have been recommending to my cousins that they look into getting certified in some sort of computer networking/security course or perhaps even something in the electrical sector... both industries seem to have a pretty high demand, and I really don't see the demand dying out anytime soon for people with certification in these areas? Pay seems to be pretty good as well.

anyone have any other career ideas that may be effective to learn in this day in age?

Let's block ads! (Why?)
