Hog Hunting Beginner

I'm planning a hunting trip in a couple months to go hog hunting in the Smokey Mountains of North Carolina. I've gone hunting (not for hogs) before as a kid with my dad, but this is the first time I'll be going hunting again as an adult.

I have a Smith & Wesson M&P 15 Sport with 75 grain hollow point 5.56 hunting ammo, and my buddy will be hunting with a Marlin Lever Action .30-30.

Any tips or tricks for two newbies would be greatly appreciated.

Stalking vs stationary, scent hiding tricks, anything.
