New Cat in Town

Hello everyone.

First off, I live in the Trinity Alps of California/Jefferson, so I have a deep love of the outdoors and solitude. This has allowed me to develop skills for both short- and long-term survival in the Cascade mountains. Recently, I started a YouTube channel to share some of these skills, and I figured that I should probably branch out so that I can help share my knowledge and experience with more people. Hence my joining this forum. Granted, a lot of my stuff is more geared toward short term wilderness survival and gold panning right now, but I have slow internet and have not been able to upload much. Anyway, back to the normal programming...

I'm a gun nut, undeniably. I joke about it, saying that since I spend all of my money on guns, I can't afford drugs. But in reality, I just really like guns. My reading material on "The Porcelain Throne" consists of Wayne Von Zwoll's "Deer Rifles and Cartridges," followed by the latest issues of The Backwoodsman Magazine and Outdoor Life. I have a lot of guns, ranging from black powder Colt clones to an AR-15, and lots of others in between.

I'm a writer. I have yet to be published, but I'm getting close to finishing my first novel. I have a number of short stories that I will be putting into a collection to publish soon, and I write articles that I post on my blog that accompanies the YouTube thing.

I have a long line of military men in my family, from my dad in the USAF from '84-88 to his dad in the Army Corps of Engineers '46-50, to his dad in the Infantry cleaning up in the final days of WWI. On my mother's side, her brother was Army on The Wall in the days before it came down, their three dad's in the Navy and Army in Vietnam, grandpas in WWII, and eventually running all the way back to the brother of William T. Sherman. I'll be continuing that line in the USAF next year.

That isn't all I could say, but it's all I'm going to right now.

Further bulletins as events warrant.
