Just a heads-up for anyone who wasn't aware, that Benchmade is discontinuing the entire Heckler & Koch licensed knife line, which includes a number of excellent US-made knives. In particular, the 14715 AXIS models are what I would consider "Top 10" for EDC, BOB/GHB carry, etc. I already have one of those, and as soon as I heard about the HKs being discontinued, I ordered one of their MP5 automatics, which are based on the old Benchmade Rukus. Now that I own two Benchmade HKs, I wonder what took me so long. For what you get (D2 or 154CM steel, flawless locking and deployment, US construction) the prices are very reasonable. Part of this is because the HK line was not subject to the unpopular Benchmade MAP pricing requirement.
I don't know what the production quantities were like for these, and I don't generally consider many knives to be of a truly must-have status, but check these out if you have $100-150 to spend on a rock-solid blade.
