major auto burglarly today ft lauderdale

So i wake up to find my wifes car open and papers everwhere. Somone had rifled through glovebox, console, registration papers, etc.

Funny thing is nothing was taken...

Her car has an alarm, and she always locks the doors, but we figured she forgot and some kids were looking for money or spare keys for a joy ride.

Soon the police arrive, but are responding to a neighbor. And another. And another. Seems 1 in 5 cars were hit. We then find out that the neighborhoods across the street were also hit. The MO was opening the cars that seemed locked and had alarms, without breaking the window, or seeming to use any jiggler keys and only soft closing the doors to shut the light off when done. They even popped all the trunks. Seems like they had a universal remote that unlocked some cars but not others. Now my car was fine and parked next to hers. Meanwhile i have all the electronics, radar detector, lase jammer, ham radio, navagation system etc. Even had a guitar in the back seat in plain view, but car was untouched. So i imagine whatever they used to open the cars was manufacturer specific and couldnt open mine.

A few people were missing gps, cash, etc, but two people had guns in the cars and they were left (luckily).

So what was the deal with this and what were they looking for. Toll transponders were even left.

Its just confusing. They must have hit 50 cars overnight and noone saw or heard anything. I noticed all cars were chrysler (and dodge/jeep), honda (and acura), or ford (and mazda).

Some 1 year old, some 10.

There was no rhyme or reason, but it seemed professional. The police were surpised at how little was taken. Even the change was left in the consoles.

Has anyone every seen or heard of this im in broward county FL (north ft lauderdale)

Let's block ads! (Why?)
